Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport as early as feasible on this day. We'll pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel where you'll spend the night. On the walk, all of the lodgings are shared. If you want to arrive early, it is not a problem; we will gladly arrange additional hotel stays for you. We'll have a group briefing this evening to go over the schedule for the next five days and answer any questions you might have.
Fly to Lukla – Trek to Monjo 2,850m/ 9,350 feet
From Kathmandu, take a flight to Lukla. We'll leave early in the morning for the Twin Otter flight to Lukla (2,840m/9,317ft), the Khumbu Region's gateway. This will be a thrilling flight; you'll get your first look of Everest from afar. We'll meet up with the rest of our trekking crew in Lukla and depart immediately for our first night in the village of Monjo. We may have to spend the night in Phakding (2,600m/ 8,530 feet) depending on what time the flight arrives in Lukla. Hopefully, the squad will be able to make it to Monjo. Both villages are located on the banks of the Dudh Kosi, which drains the whole Khumbu Region and serves as the region's principal commercial route. The trail's busiest section can be found here. It takes 3 hours to walk to Phakding and 5 hours to go to Monjo. From Lukla, the distance to Monjo is 8.8 miles/13 kilometers.
Namche Bazaar 3,440m/ 11,286 feet
We continue along the Dudh Kosi River's banks toward Namche Bazaar. The trail then crosses the confluence of the Dudh Kosi and the Bhote Kosi on a high suspension bridge after a few hours of walking. Then, after a couple of hours of heart-pounding uphill climbing, we arrive at Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,286 feet). This is the capital of the Khumbu Region and a prosperous commercial town. Thamserku and Kangtega, both quite spectacular mountains, are only over the valley to the east. This day's walk takes about 4 hours from Monjo and covers a total distance of 5 miles/ 8 kilometers.
Rest Day

Hike up Shangbouche Hill 3,900m/ 12,800 feet
We spend another night in Namche to give you the maximum chance of acclimatization. To aid in the process, we will spend time resting and trekking to higher altitudes during this essential acclimatization phase. We'll get up early today for our acclimatization hike. We'll climb to Shangbouche Hill, 3,900 meters/12,800 feet above sea level, for a better perspective of the entire Everest region. Before returning to Namche for lunch, the intention is to spend additional time acclimating at this level. The afternoon can be spent sampling various cuisines, as well as the delicacies of Namche Bakeries and local shops! For us to get there and back, the climb to Shangbouche Hill will take about four hours.
Tengbouche – 3,900m/ 12,800 feet
We'll leave Namche today and travel to Tengbouche, which is 3,900 meters (12,800 feet) above sea level. The well-worn Everest trail contours around the slope of the valley high above the Dudh Kosi, starting from Namche. The big peaks of the Khumbu region, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam, will be visible as we go down the path. We will descend roughly 300 meters (984 feet) to the Dudh Kosi River, where we will halt for lunch after passing through various settlements. After lunch, we'll begin the 700-meter (2,296-foot) ascent to Tengbouche. The Tengbouche Monastery, which is both majestic and well-known, is located here. This afternoon, you can go to the Monastery or the neighborhood bakery. Today's trip will last about 5 to 6 hours and cover 7.5 miles/12 kilometers.
Dingbouche 4,350m/ 14,271 feet
Today we'll continue on up the trail to Dingbouche. Just beyond Debouche, the walk traverses an airy suspension bridge shaded by Rhododendron trees. From here, the walk continues for almost an hour until reaching Pangbouche village. There are great views of Ama Dablam ('Mother's Charm Box') from here, and this is where we stop for tea. We may be able to visit the local Monastery, which was the first in the Everest Region, if time allows. We'll re-cross the river and turn up the Imja Valley to reach Dingbouche, a lovely farming community at 4,350 meters/ 14,271 ft above sea level. Today's hike will take about 5–6 hours and cover 7.5 miles/12 kilometers.
Dingbouche (Rest Day)
At this key height, today is spent as another acclimatization day. While on our acclimatization climb just above town, we will be able to witness beautiful vistas of three 8,000-foot peaks: Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Lhotse. Today, we'll climb to 4,900 meters (16,000 feet) for some of the best views of the trip. We'll return to Dingbouche for lunch after taking in the vistas and spending some time at this new elevation. The afternoon will be free to rest and explore the village of Dingbouche before the next several tough days. Today's hike will take about 4 hours round trip and will climb 550 meters (1,804 feet) in height.
Lobuche 4,940m/ 16,207 feet
We will trek to Lobuche today, continuing on the top trail to Thukla at 4,620 meters/15,157 ft. The Lobuje East Peak, at 6,119 meters/20,075 feet, is ahead of us, and the daunting north face of Taweche is to our left. After almost three hours of steady walking, we arrive to Thukla's modest collection of lodges, where we will have an early lunch. We continue walking uphill for about an hour after lunch to the Everest Memorial. The views of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and Taweche from the Memorial are spectacular. The trail continues gently parallel to the famed Khumbu Glacier that runs off Mount Everest after leaving the Memorial.
Gorak Shep 5,180m/ 17,126 feet to Base Camp 5,364m/ 17,600 feet
The first day of our Everest Base Camp trek has arrived! We'll rise early to begin our 3-hour ascent to Gorak Shep, which will take us to a height of 5,180 meters (17,126 feet). We'll be crossing glacial moraine on mixed rocky terrain with a lot of up and downhill today, so it'll be a challenging day on the path. We'll stop in Gorak Shep for an early lunch before continuing on to Everest Base Camp, which was the base camp for the 1953 Everest Expedition. Before arriving at Everest Base Camp, we'll continue for another two hours from Gorak Shep, crossing more glacier moraine with the risk of landslides. We will have time to visit Everest Base Camp, which is located on the Khumbu Glacier, depending on the weather. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stand at the foot of the world's highest mountain! After about an hour, we'll retrace our steps back to Gorak Shep, where we'll spend the night. The journey today will take roughly 7 hours and cover 6.2 miles/10 kilometers.

The trail from Gorak Shep goes steeply uphill to the summit of Kala Patthar, which stands at 5,645 meters/18,520 ft. The climb to the peak takes around 2 hours, and the views from Kala Patthar are amazing, with the iconic vista of Mount Everest as a bonus! We'll then retrace our travels through Lobuche and the Everest Memorial, stopping for lunch in Thukla. From here, we'll climb the lower trail to Pheriche, a town at 4,300 meters/ 14,107 feet, where we'll spend the night. Today's entire distance is 11.2 miles/18 kilometers, and it will take 7–8 hours to complete.
Pheriche to Namche 3,440m/ 11,286 feet
Today's walk will be another long and difficult one. We return from Pheriche via Pangbouche, then uphill to Tengbouche, where we stop for tea. The trail descends for an hour from Tengbouche to our lunch place beside the river. After lunch, we'll return to the Ama Dablam View Guesthouse for a one-hour-and-thirty-minute ascent, where we'll have a final short break. It will take us around an hour and thirty minutes to get to Namche Bazaar. We won't get in Namche until late in the afternoon, so it'll be a long day. Now is the time to shower, relax, and get some rest! This day's hike will last roughly 8 hours and cover 13.7 miles./22 km
Lukla 2,850m/ 9,350 feet

From here, you'll have to hike up and down the stairs and pathways as you follow the river back to Phakding, where we'll stop for lunch.
