If you want to get a true experience of a normal Nepali village with a house stay and a short trek with the people you love to travel with, Ghale Gaun and Bhujung village can be the perfect option for you. To explore these two magnificent Gurung villages, you'll need three nights and four days.
The Gurungs live with other ethnic groups in the central hills and valleys along the southern slope of the Annapurna Himalaya in mid-western Nepal. They have a diverse culture and heritage. They are part of the Gorkha regiment of the British and Indian armies, as well as the Royal Nepalese Army and police.
Itinerary
Kathmandu – Besisahar
We leave on a Bus to Besisahar from Kathmandu as early as possible (Bus leaves @ 5:30 A.M.). We will try to reach at least around 1:00 P.M. and move towards Bhujung at around 2:00 P.M. You’ll reach Bhujung at around 4:30 – 5:00 P.M.
Bhujung to Ghalegaun
Wake up early to see the sunrise up in the Himalayas. Interacting with the people is also a highlight. Inquire about their background, daily lives, or anything else you'd like. They adore conversing with you. People will be ploughing fields, carrying firewood and fodders, working in fields, and making Bakkhu (multipurpose blanket like cloth used to wear as a jacket, a blanket, or a cushion to carry weight) out of Sheep wool, Chitra (Matt or Net out of Bamboo), Wooden Plough, or everyday life like ploughing fields, carrying firewood and fodders, etc.
Ghalegaun to Besisahar to Your Destination
Early in the morning, about 4:30 – 5:00 a.m., get up. View the sunrise from the View Tower. If the View Tower is too busy, head over to the hill in front of Jeep Parking. Take pictures, record images, and have a good time. You can also go to the Uttarkanya Temple and the Tea Garden. Then Breakfast is recommended.
