Nangpa La Pass Trek has a unique experience and stories between Tibet and Nepal trade junction. Nagpapa La Pass Everest Trek is one of the most challenging routes in the Everest region. It goes through Lukla-Namche Bazaar and Thame are Sherpa villages, over Ranjo-La Pass and to Gokyo Ri via Gokyo. From Gokyo you cross Nagozumda Glacier. The Himalayas looms largest around the great 8,000-meter peak massifs of Cho Oyo, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. The remote valleys beneath these peaks are threaded by ancient trails. Some like the well-traveled path to Everest Base camp are well known among Western trekkers and mountaineers. Others including the trail through Nangpa La between Namche Bazar and Tibet are known to Tibetan monks and traders.
Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu
Today is the day of your arrival. Upon your arrival at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, we extend our warmest greetings. In Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. Arrange a meeting with your guide prior to the activities for a briefing on the essential formalities for your tour and trek itinerary. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may have free time to explore neighboring historic/countryside areas.
Fly to Lukla/ Start Trek to Phakding.(2650m)
We pick you up with our Local Leader/Guide in the morning and take you to the Domestic airport for the unforgettable first beautiful flight. From Kathmandu, we fly to Lukla (2827m). The flight is thrilling in and of itself. We fly parallel to the Himalayan mountains that run along Nepal's border with Tibet. We arrive at an airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s after a 40-minute flight. We meet our porters after landing, who will carry our gear on our walk. We also have some free time before heading out on the route to explore the village. The trip begins with a descent towards the Dudh Kosi River, passing through numerous lucky prayer stones and prayer flags before joining the main Namche trail.
Phakding to Namche Bazaar.(3450 m)
We begin the day at Phakding, crossing the river to walk along the track through a beautiful spring blue pine and rhododendron woodland. At the end of Phakdingma, we cross the Dudh Kosi river, staying on both the east and west banks of the river, with spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks of Kusum Kanguru (6369m) and Thamserku (6623m). It's simply a short walk from here to Monjo (2835m), where we'll have time for lunch. The trek becomes more difficult after that, with a steep elevation to Namche Bazaar. It's only a short walk to the national park's gate, where we'll have our permits examined before descending steeply to bridge the Dudh Kosi to Jorsale (2805m).The walk continues upstream through mostly level terrain, crossing back to the right bank at the Bhote Kosi-Dudh Kosi river's junction. We climb steeply to Namche Bazaar after crossing a wide and stable suspension bridge high above the river. On this stretch of the ascent, a calm and steady pace is recommended, and we are encouraged to take advantage of the wonderful photographic opportunities as the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Taweche come into view for the first time. You might notice that you're moving a little more slowly here. The trail has been used by locals as a 'foot highway' for trade.
Acclimatization/ Excursion Day in Namche Bazaar.
We rest for a day in Namche Bazaar, enabling our bodies to adjust to the altitude of 3,450 meters. Walking up to the Everest View Hotel (3,900m) in the morning and returning to Namche for lunch is an option.
Namche to Thame.
It takes roughly 4 hours to walk from Namche Bazaar to Thame. As you ascend the Bhote Koshi Valley, previously a popular commercial route into Tibet, the track bends west and becomes practically level. You'll see a lot of prayer flags, Mani walls, and carved stones along the path, all of which are signs of the Tibetan Buddhist culture in this area. The trail climbs sharply to Thame after descending to the Bhote Koshi. The peaks of Teng Kangpoche and Kwangde may be seen from here, and to the north lies the Nangpa La, the Tibet-bound pass. The Mani Rimdu festival's spring celebrations are held in Thame Gompa, which is located above the hamlet and overlooks the valley. 5 HOURS
Thame to Lungden.
The hike from Thame to Lungdeng takes about 6 hours. The trail follows the Bhote Koshi valley, and along the way, visitors can see a variety of plants and animals, as well as Sherpa culture and unique Sherpa settlements. 6 HOURS
Lungden to Sumna.(4815m)
We've arrived at the peaceful Thame Valley, where Tibetan traders with their herds of yaks may be seen transporting commodities from Tibet to or from the Nangpa La. The trail from Arye is rather simple for a while before gradually ascending to a huge flat meadow where the valley splits, which is a good spot for lunch. After lunch, the trail climbs slightly at first before passing through a landslide region. We then descend to Sumna, where we will spend the night at 4,815 meters, close below the Sumna glacier.
Sumna to Kangchung.(5250 m)
Today, we choose a route that is rarely traveled by ordinary tourists in the Everest region. This is a short hike up the valley to Lunag 5070m and Kangchung 5250m, both of which are located at the base of Nangpai Gotaya. We spend two nights camping at Kangchung.
Day Hike to the Nangpa La.(5710 m)
As we trek to the Tibetan border, it will be a long and difficult journey. We leave early in the morning to descend onto the Nangpa glacier's stony glacial moraine. We can see the pass in the distance ahead of us, but we'll have to cross from one side of this gorgeous glacier to the other to get there. The experience of walking on the glacier is incredible, but we must be cautious because crevasses surround us. The track is marked by yak dung from the hundreds of Tibetan tradesmen who bring their yaks across the pass on a daily basis. We proceed past Dzasampa (5,400m), a little glacier-side encampment where Tibetans and their yaks camp. The track zigzags up and down before returning to the right side of the glacier for the final steep ascent up onto the ice and snow. We ultimately reach the glacier's summit, from where it's a 45-minute hike to the very top. Finally, we'll see the prayer flags that mark the summit of the Nangpa La (5,710m) and the Nepal-Tibet boundary. The vistas are well worth the effort of climbing. We can see down and across the empty Tibetan plateau front of us, and Cho Oyu lies to our right.
Trek back to Arye.
Back to Arye, we take the same path. If we're lucky, we'll be able to follow the Tibetan traders' caravan and learn about the difficulties they experience when trading in Namche Bazaar. Tibetan refugees fleeing Tibet frequently utilize this path to reach Dharamsala, India. Arye to Renjo La Base Camp on Day 12. (4960 meters) Yak Kharka Camp is another name for Renjo La Base Camp. This location is roughly 4900 meters above sea level, just below the Renjo La Pass. We need the energy to cross the Renjo La Pass the next day, so today's hike is short and easy.
Arye to Renjo La Base Camp.(4960 m)
Yak Kharka Camp is another name for Renjo La Base Camp. This location is roughly 4900 meters above sea level, just below the Renjo La Pass. We need the energy to cross the Renjo La Pass the next day, so today's hike is short and easy.
Renjo La (5338 m)Base Camp to Gokyo.(4750 m)
The big day begins early because we must trek for around 4 hours to reach the pass, and we must walk slowly due to the high altitude. We begin our arduous downhill journey for about 3 hours to reach the village of Gokyo stroll along the gorgeous and picturesque Dudh Kunda after a quick pause at the Renjo La Pass to admire the stunning splendor of the Everest Range and take photographs (milk lake).
Early Morning Hike to Gokyo Ri (5410 m). Rest Day in Gokyo
Gokyo is a commerce hub where Sherpas run lodges to provide the finest possible service to trekkers. Gokyo is located beside the Ngozumba Glacier, Nepal's largest glacier. You can take a side journey to Fifth Lake via Forth Lake on this day.
Gokyo Ri to Thare vilage
It takes roughly 4 and a half hours to trek or climb from Gokyo to Thare via Gokyo village. You leave camp immediately after first light, climbing a difficult path up the hillside to Gokyo Ri, which stands above the settlement on the northern end of the lake. The summits of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu gradually come into view as you climb, and the panorama from Gokyo Ri's summit is one of the best in the Everest region - some claim it's even better than Kala Patthar. It's only a short stroll to Thare village after lunch.
Trek to Tengboche.(3850m)
It takes roughly 6 hours to walk from Thare to Tengboche (3850m). At a sluggish pace, the trail descends and climbs. When you arrive at Tyangboche village, you'll see the famed legendary monastery, the Khumbu's largest. Local Sherpas create an exhibition of various things to sell to interested trekkers at a trekker's visiting center. A slide presentation about the Sherpa people, culture, Buddhism, and environmental development activities is also shown.
Trek to Monjo.
We return to Namche Bazaar on our way back. In Namche, we should have enough time to shop and unwind in the bakery with a coffee and a cake, or even check the Internet. The suspension bridge across the Dudh Koshi River and the little settlement of Monjo are reached after a 600-meter descent down Namche Hill (2,835m). Our porters had a less arduous hike back to Lukla the next day from Monjo, which is quieter than Namche. Trek takes about 6-7 hours.
Trek to Lukla :
The trail now flattens out, and we cross the river twice more before ascending the hillside to Lukla, passing by numerous teahouses. Trek takes 3-4 hours.
Fly Lukla to Kathmandu.
We get up early in the morning to prepare for the arrival of our plane, which will take us back to Kathmandu. We are greeted at the airport and driven to our hotel in Kathmandu
